My family just came back from our 6D5N cruise on board Genting Dream Cruise (29092019 - 04092019) and I can't wait to share my experience here.
From our past experience of long waiting time at the cruise center, I tried to be as prepared as possible this time round. You can read more about my pre cruise preparation in the previous article. Boarding
My family arrived at Marina Cruise Center at 11:00. There are already some passengers waiting in the cruise center but it is still considered not crowded in my opinion.
Although there are many staff on site to assist us if needed and there are some print out signage to direct us, I feel that the management of the cruise center or the cruise itself should upgrade by deploying large video walls instead.
We were allowed to enter at around 11:30. This information was passed down verbally by the staff. As a result there were a bit of confusion as only a handful of passengers received the information. There were a small commotion when a group of aunties starts rushing to enter but the staff were quick to resolve the issue.
After the luggage check I was directed to the front of the waiting area as I was granted priority boarding for city check in (Refer to my previous post for more information on city check in). Snacks and drinks were issued while we were waiting in this area.
At around 12:30, the staff approached us and informed us that they will open up our zone for people from boarding group 1 as we were the only one in the priority zone. At this point in time I felt like a fool for going to the trouble of getting the city check in at their office when there isn't much difference between us and those that did online check in.
Finally slightly after 13:00, we get to board the cruise.
Balcony Stateroom
We head directly to our room first to put down our stuff. I booked the balcony stateroom for 3.
My birthday happens to fall during the cruise period, hence i opted for the birthday package. Hence our room was decorated with balloons. Wew!!!
I also received a complimentary cake for my birthday. :P
Now lets continue the tour of the room.
Settle all the necessary documents
One of the advantage of boarding early is so that I can take care of all the paperwork as soon as possible.
We proceed to deck 6 after putting down our stuff in the room. I need to settle 3 paperwork at 3 different counter (Even though they are all different counters, luckily they are just side by side at Deck 6): 1. Get my birthday complimentary Wi-Fi 2. Register Dream Elite for my parents to get free gift (haha Singaporeans will not missed out on any free stuff) 3. Register for Shore transfer Dream Dining Room Upper - Lunch
With all the paperwork settled, we head to Deck 8 for lunch at Dream Dining Room Upper. This is one of the inclusive restaurant that you can eat at and it serves chinese set meals. I choose this place over the buffet area as i suspect most people would head to the buffet first. And I was right. We get to enjoy a quiet lunch as a result.
Looking Around
After lunch, there are still some time to spare before any interesting activities kicks in. Hence we did some exploration around the cruise,
I tried the rope course when it opens at 17:00 but the strong wind makes me give up on the zip line attempt T.T
