With only a few hours left in Nha Trang, I could squeeze in one more places to visit before we return to our cruise ship and continue our 6D5N cruise on board Genting Dream Cruise (29092019 - 04092019).
Prior to the trip when I was searching for the top things to do in Nha Trang, one particular activity caught my attention: Mud Bath Experience. Apparently, many tourist flock to this part of Vietnam to experience the mud bath as the natural mud in this area is full of minerals which is good for the body. There are many well known places in Nha Trang which offers the mud bath experience (You can search online for the list). In the end I choose Galina Mud Bath & Spa because it is nearest to the port (approximately 10 mins taxi ride).
The mud bath facility is actually located inside Galina Hotel & Spa. If I am not wrong, the facility is free for guest staying at the hotel. However you can like me pay a small admission fee to use the facility. I got my tickets from Klook.
I was greeted by a friendly staff the moment I entered the hotel's lobby. They will ask if you are getting a room or here to experience the mud bath. For those here to use the mud bath facility, they will direct you to take the lift down to the basement where the reception for the mud bath is located at.
The check in process was very efficient. All I need to do was to pass them my print out voucher. During the wait, we were served with a cup of warm tea.
Do take note that you need to be dressed in swim wear to use the facility. Not to worry if you did not bring any as they will lend you a set when requested. After checking in, they will direct you to the changing room. You will be given a key to a locker to put all your stuff. Hold on to the key and return the key only when you need are leaving the place. Once you are done with changing, return to the counter and the staff will led you to the mud bath area (which is located at level 4)
We were greeted by another staff when we reached the mud bath area. He led us to an empty "tub" and starts filling it with mud water only when we arrived. I think this gives the assurance that the water is changed after every use which is very good.
Once the "tub" is ready, the staff pass us 2 bottles of mineral water and walks away. From this point onward I did not take any photo because my hand was full of mud the moment I entered the "tub". Secondly the flooring of the "tub" is actually quite slippery hence it is quite hard to control your position/movement. Lastly the truth is that the mud bath was too relaxing that I forgot to take any pictures.
The mud water is warm and more liquid than i expected. After soaking for awhile, I can feel my whole muscles relaxing especially those in my legs and shoulder area. It feels like doing a milk bath when applying the mud water to the hands and face because it makes the skin feels so soft. I remembered reading online about the steps and timing to take note when taking the mud bath. However I have no idea how long I was in the "tub". It was way too relaxing that I do not wish to leave the "tub". Even though the staff would walk around the area, they will not chase you out of the "tub" (Something that I was afraid would happen as I would always stare at them when they walk very near haha) But all good things will come to an end and eventually I do get out of the "tub". The staff approached immediately when I exit the "tub" and directed us towards the washing area shaped like a tree. Another staff was on standby to hose us down to help get rid of any remaining mud especially on our back.
Once we are cleaned up, another staff approached with some big towels for us to wipe ourselves dry. The staff that directed us to the washing area asked if we want to use the steam room or the sauna room. I felt weird to force myself to sweat only when I just dried myself hence i gave both a missed but managed to take some pic instead.
Next we were directed to a seating area with small stones for us to step on and small Jacuzzi style water that I think was supposed to relax our legs or something but I do not think there were any effects.
We left this area very quickly partly because it was quite crowded here (Seriously I am not sure why the others love soaking their legs here). Anyway the next section is Jacuzzi. Ahhh another round of relaxation. Thats more of my style.
There is also a swimming pool for you to chill under the sun which I skipped.
Finally there is a shower room that you can rinse off in when you are about to leave. Do take note that there is no shower facility and toilet when you go back to the basement area so this is the only place if you need to shower or use the bathroom. Once done you can head back to the changing room and get dressed. There is a laundry basket beside the door to return the used towels and the swim wear if you had borrowed from them. This sums up my mud bath experience here in Nha Trang. I do recommend you to head further to the other more popular facilities for a more authentic mud bath experience if you have the time. Otherwise Galina Mud Bath and Spa is a good place for a quick recharge if you only have a few hours to spare when visiting Nha Trang. Details
