Sentosa is hosting Singapore's biggest Pokémon Carnival ever from 15 June 2019 - 30 June 2019. Not only will you get to see all 403 Pokémon (yes thats all the Pokémon from region of Alola), there are also games, meet and greet sessions, parades, 5-metre tall floats. And the most most important information is that admission is free. Yes FREE !!!! This is an event a hardcore Pokémon fan should not miss. For more information about the event, you can visit Sentosa official site for the details. I will focus more on my experience from my visit to the event on 15 June 2019. Getting to the Pokémon CarnivalThe carnival is taking place at Sentosa Cove. If you are not driving, you can first make your way to Sentosa Beach Station via Sentosa Express from VivoCity. Do note that you will need to make payment of $2/person for the entry to Sentosa. Once you arrived at the Beach Station, you can head over to the bus terminal to take the free shuttle bus provided by the event to Sentosa Cove. Although official statement states that the free shuttle bus service starts from 5pm, I would suggest that you be here much earlier. I arrived at the bus terminal at 4:40 and already a queue has formed. To make matter worse, the event uses a small mini bus that can only accommodate around 20 people at a time. I only managed to get on the 2 bus at 5:20. Collect your Adventure Booklet at the Redemption BoothThe most attractive event of the carnival is a chance to bring home a Pokémon plushie by completing the questions in the Adventure Booklet. Hence you should collect this first. Do note that you need to submit a receipt (any spending from Sentosa Island in June 2019) to receive a Pokémon Adventure Activity Booklet and Carnival Game Vouchers. Photo Opportunity EverywhereThere are lots of photo spots around the region Other photo opportunity includes meet and greet with Pikachu and Pikachu parade which i missed. Completing the Adventure BookletWinning a plushie is what I am here for. I will explain how to complete the booklet as well as provide you with some tips to complete it faster. Firstly as explained, you will first need to redeem the Adventure Booklet using 1 receipt of any amount from Sentosa in the month of June. If you have no time to go on shopping spree in Sentosa, fear not as there is a convenient store and a food stall located very close to the redemption booth where you can spend little money to get a receipt. Secondly remember to bring a pen to answer the questions!!! If you really forgot to bring one, ask for one at the redemption booth (while they still have) Another thing to be prepared is to make sure your mobile device is capable of scanning QR codes. Completing the Adventure Booklet is very simple: 1. There are total 18 questions to be answered in each booklet. 2. Each question is catered to 1 Pokémon. 3. You can find the answer to the question by locating the Pokémon among the Pokémon Standee in the venue. 4. Once found, you can scan the QR code for the answer. 5. Answer all correctly to redeem a plushie (While stock last) Now comes the juicy part. Heehee !!! Below are my tips to complete the booklet faster. You can split the question into 2 types: - Fact: questions regarding knowledge of the Pokémon - Observation: questions based on the standee located around the venue You can search online to answer all the factual questions first. This will reduce the amount of standee you need to find. It is best to visit the carnival in a big group. That way you can divide yourself up to search different parts of the venue at the same time. If you can form 3 groups, then 1 can help to complete the carnival games at the same time. When you find the Pokémon standee with the Pokémon you are looking for, you can find the QR codes at the back. Some questions require you to count the number of Pokémon standing beside the one in question. Some Pokémon standee are so filled with Pokémon to the extend that it is very hard to count. One trick is to count the number of QR codes. Teamwork is gold. After a while, you will realize you are looking at the same Pokémon standee with the same group of people. There are only 4 different sets of booklet. Don't be shy and just ask around if anyone have the same set as you. You will realize many are willing to exchange findings and this really help to speed up the answering process by a lot. Once completed, head to the redemption booth as quickly as possible as the queue is really really long. Once again it is best to go in a big group and you can get one to queue first while you have almost completed your booklet. Finally after searching high and low to complete your Adventure Booklet, you will receive a plushie as a reward. Yay!!!! One final tip is to start your adventure as early as possible because it gets harder after dark and the queue for the redemption gets longer every minute. This is truly a carnival for hardcore Pokémon fans to catch them all. Have Fun !!!
