This is day 2 of our 6D5N cruise on board Genting Dream Cruise (29092019 - 04092019).
First thing to do is head to the Crystal Life Fitness at Deck 15 Fwd which is a 24 hour gym. The gym is usually not pack when i went.
When I went back to my room, I was surprised to find a card waiting for me.
Yes, what makes today special is that it is my birthday !!! (●^o^●) Wonder what is in store for me today...
For now back to reality...
Guest that wish to go free and easy in Nha Trang or Ho Chi Minh needs to collect the free and easy assembly ticket from the reception counter at Deck 6 from 0800. Our kiasu spirit kicks in and we decided to head to the counter at 0745 before going for breakfast. Turns out our kiasu spirit is considered low level as a queue is already formed up at the counter when we arrived.
You can send one representative to collect the tickets on behalf of your group as long as this person has all the cabin cards. With no exception I was the representative for my family haha. The process is simple, tell the counter staff the free and easy that you wish to take part in (in our case is Nha Trang or Ho Chi Minh), our preferred timing to go on shore (first come first serve depending on availability) and the staff shall proceed to assign 1 ticket per cabin card received. So simple.
With the paperwork cleared, it is time to enjoy our breakfast. Having seen many positive reviews on their dim sum breakfast, the Dream dining Room Upper is where we had our first breakfast. And I am not disappointed. Their dim sum are tasty though not hot (maybe I took too many photo (^_^;) )
Do note that you can request for multiple servings for any of the dishes served here unless it is a special dish (lobster on last night) My personal favorite was their har gow (prawn dumpling) and char siew su (char siew puff) which I ordered multiple servings. My suggestion is to inform them early that you want multiple servings as the second serving can take quite a while.
After a heavy breakfast, it is time to exercise. We plan to spend the morning at the pool while I shall challenge myself with the water slides.
First thing first lets try the slides for children haha.
Finally it is time to conquer the Giant water slides!!!! There are 5 water slides in total (3 on one side, 2 on the other). The instructor says that the level of difficulty is from left (red, yellow, blue) and then right (red, yellow). As such I decided to try the slides in that sequence.
The first 2 slides have many turns with the yellow version slightly faster. The blue slide was similar until you reach the bowl where you will come to a steep drop down. I guess this was to prep you for the next 2 slides where you will face a vertical steep drop right at the start. Woah!!! The hardest part was when you are siting at the entrance of the slide preparing to go down. Once in it is so fast that I told my parent that i hit the bottom before i can shout. (-_-;) Unlike Royal Caribbean where I experience long queues for its many activities, there are close to no queue for activities like water slides on this cruise. Hence I can go at the water slides multiple times until my heart cannot take it. The yellow slide on the left was my overall favorite. Sadly I cannot bring any cameras up on the slides.
After a adrenaline rush morning, it is time to laid back to enjoy some mermaid demonstration at the main pool.
All this training to be a mermaid is making me hungry so it is time to eat. We choose Lido for lunch today. Maybe they have some collaboration with tour agencies from India, almost half of the spread here are indian dishes and those are usually repeated when we came here to eat. Luckily the international section have some variation every time I was here so overall I still say I am ok with the selection of food here. Though the biggest draw of eating here is the soft serve ice cream and desserts haha.
After lunch I decided that today I must conquer the zipline!!! Once again there was no queue when I arrived at the rope course.
It was raining during lunch time. Hence I was already having second thoughts the moment I got on the rope course as the course was very slippery. To make things worse when I reach the zipline platform suspended 18 decks above the ocean, the wind starts picking up again. I failed the first attempt to jump off the platform on my own. The instructor told me it is easier if i try to sit down first. So i tried. And the moment i tried sitting down, the rope starts pulling me away from the platform. So off i go and in a way i succeeded in conquering the zipline. Yay!!!
Spend some time chilling and testing birthday luck at the Jackpot haha. Can only say it works. ^_^
Later in the evening, we enjoyed a stage production called Some Like It Hot at the Zodiac Theatre, Deck 7 Fwd. Do remember to register through the Dream Cruise App to guarantee a seat though seats are free seating. It is a Broadway style performance filled with world class songs and dance.
Finally we end off the day with a complimentary set meals (part of birthday package) at Umi Uma Restaurant at Deck 8. Super delicious. Do note that you need to make reservations early for the paid restaurants else it might be full especially during dinner time.
